Comedian and actress Margaret Cho shows that celebrities are just like you and me; she uses her lungs to breath in air, gets nominated for Grammy Awards, enjoys coffee, sells out national tours, and I’m sure there are a lot of other similarities that for some reason I can’t think of. Regardless, when Margaret’s in the mood for coffee, she has one of her publicist’s assistants reach for a Whynatte Latte.
Margaret’s been a huge supporter of Whynatte ever since we made her acquaintance, and I’m pretty sure it’s not because of the enormous (read: zero dollars) endorsement check we gave her. Margaret spends a lot of time in Atlanta, shooting the Lifetime show Drop Dead Diva about 45 minutes south of town in Peachtree City. Oftentimes Margaret has to be on set incredibly early in the morning, and her morning routine involves rolling out of bed, brushing her teeth, grabbing a cold Whynatte or two from the fridge, and heading up to the roof to get on her gyrocopter. Not only does Margaret drink her Whynatte, but she likes to get a little freaky and blend one into her protein shake. And when she’s feeling extra frisky, she might even use a Whynatte Latte to bake a cake, or in a pinch as replacement windshield wiper fluid in her Mini Cooper. You could say that she didn’t get to where she is today by playing it safe.
Margaret discusses her relationship with Whynatte in a recent post on her website, which is one of the best things I’ve read since The Great Gatsby. Her post is a tour de force in dairy writing, and indicative of what a true sweetheart Margaret Cho is. On her blog, Margaret discusses the role that coffee plays in her life, how and where she throws back her Whynatte, and the feeling that she gets when she drinks a Whynatte. Kind words from a kind person, and one of the coolest/hardest working people I’ve ever met. As a native Atlantan, I’m proud to hear her call the ATL home, and appreciate everything she’s done to support a bunch of our local businesses.
